Wine critic, Jeb Dunnuck says,"The 2021 Syrah Reserve spending 20 months in 60% new French oak. Its inky purple hue is followed by a sensational nose of bloody blue and black fruits, black olive, bacon fat, liquid violets, and ground black pepper. The texture here is incredible, and it's full-bodied, with a pure, layered, unctuous mouthfeel and ripe, velvety tannins. It's a blockbuster, rich, yet flawlessly balanced, seamless beauty that will compete with anything out there." 98 Points
Lisa Perrotti-Brown of The Wine Independent says, "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2021 Reserve Syrah bursts from the glass with bold notions of black currant cordial, ripe black plums, and Bing cherries, giving way to nuances of wild sage, forest floor, and espresso. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with youthful black fruit flavors laced with earthy suggestions, framed by plush tannins and well-knit acidity, finishing on a lingering anise note." 97 Points
Wine critic Owen Bargreen says, "The ‘Reserve’ bottling is only made in select years. This 2021 Syrah is a barrel selection wine that utilizes Alban-1, 174 and 470 clonalselections. Stored in 30% new French oak, this is inky in the glass, delivering rich dark currants, creme de violette, mocha, blackberry pie and smoked meats on the palate. Bright acidity and beautiful freshness lines this wine, with refined tannins. Concentrated with its black and blue fruits and showing serious structure and richness, this will surely be a 20 year wine. Drink 2025-2044." 96 Points
Wine Critic Matt Kettmann of Wine Enthusiast says, "Very dark in the glass, this incredibly intense style of Syrah erupts on the nose with cocoa, espresso bean, charred bacon fat, squid ink and grilled boysenberry aromas on the nose. There's an iodine streak to the tarry palate, where Sichuan peppercorn, oyster sauce and elderberry jam flavors make for savory harmony." -97 points
