Wine critic Owen Bargreen says, "This outstanding 2021 Primitivo has 15% Petite Sirah blended in. Chocolate and espresso grounds combine with tar and tobacco leaf. The palate is soft and refined with a smooth texture. The palate shows beautiful weight, displaying dazzling tension and good richness. Dense and chewy, with lifted tannins and a beautiful core of dark fruits, this is already drinking well right now. 16% alcohol but again you would not guess that. Drink 2024-2038 - 94".
Wine critic Erin Brooks says, "The 2021 Primitivo was co-fermented with 15% Petite Sirah and matured for 20 months in 30% once-used oak. It opens with classic apricot and wild berry fruit and offers nuances of sagebrush, autumn leaves, coffee beans and dusty earth. The medium-bodied palate is slightly warm, with generous, ripe fruit, gently chewy tannins and juicy acidity, and it finishes with detailed earthy accents. 170 cases were made; it will be released in the spring of 2024." - 93
Wine critic Eric Guido of Vinous says, "Depths of crushed blackberry and cherry combine with mentholated herbs as the 2021 Primitivo evolves in the glass. This opens with a balance of ripe wild berries and sweet spice, all elevated by zesty acidity. It displays fantastic balance as saline minerals combine with grippy tannins and an air of lavender and cola, yet through it all, the experience remains remarkably fresh. This is a fantastic rendition of domestic Primitivo that outperforms many examples I’ve tasted from Italy." - 91
Wine critic Matt Kettmann of Wine Enthusiast says, "Rich and thick aromas of cassis, roasted charcoal and violet extract draw the nose into this bottling, which is fermented with 15% Petite Sirah. The palate satisfies with lush flavors of cassis, coffee bean and charred caramel." 94
