"The 2011 Azimuth is a blend of 42% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 22% Mourvedre and the balance Petite Sirah and Tempranillo. Aged 18 months in French oak, it has layers of black raspberry, crushed berries, flower, pepper and licorice to go with a medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant feel on the palate. I love the overall purity and texture here, and this is another outstanding wine from Carl. It will evolve gracefully through 2021. Carl Bowker continues to knock it out of the park with these Caliza releases. They’re unabashedly Paso in style, and not for the faint of heart, but they’re smoking wines and are a joy to drink."
